Endless Endless Space Legend

So this is interesting. The game studio Amplitude released a cinematic teaser for Endless Space 2 earlier this week, and Endless Space just so happens to be one of the best grand strategy games set in space ever to be made. Guess what else was really good? Endless Legend. And Dungeon of the Endless was, from what I have heard, also pretty damn good. As far as teasers go, it's pretty but also pretty damn nondescript. Check it out for yourself:

"What if I could begin again?"
Oh, like with a sequel to your game? Clever.

Right, clearly no information to be had there, right? Just some pretty CGI and ethereal voice overs. Some snippets of a soothing soundtrack. But wait! If you act now, there's more!

As reported by the fine people over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun, there's more than meets the eye here. Or rather, you may not realise what your eye is meeting. They discovered that the ship featured in the trailer looks an awful lot like the ancient ship you can find and repair in Endless Legend (which is a fantasy setting) and thereby use for an exodus. So... does this mean that we're going to see some cross contamination between the games? As the second RTS article linked above mentions, leaving the Endless Legend planet by using that ship was recently added as one of the win conditions for the game, so it's more than just an Easter egg, and now here it is again, this time used by one of the factions from Endless Space.

In the end, no matter how important the ship was in Endless Legend, it may not turn out to be much more than an Easter egg in Endless Space 2. But it sure is intriguing, don't you think? Regardless, I'm going to follow the development of this game, if for no other reason than the simply stellar (space pun!) track record of the studio.

How about you, does this tickle your fancy? Leave a comment and let me know. Or don't. Like, you know, whatever...
Until then, this is Johnny Panzer, signing out.
